Nitrous Oxide and Oral Sedation by Brampton Dentist

There are various benefits of using nitrous oxide and oral sedation when completing a routine check up at the dentist in order to avoid anxiety and stress during the visit.  Nitrous oxide by Brampton Dentist is a secure way to sedate a patient; it is a non-toxic, non-allergenic and non-irritating gas that is inhaled through a mask.  The effects of the gas is felt within 5-10 minutes of breathing it in and after the treatment is completed, the effects can be reversed within 10 minutes by breathing oxygen through the same mask.  Essentially all patients can take nitrous oxide with the exception of individuals who suffer asthma, bronchitis, or any lung disorders.  You will remain conscious while sedated and are able to communicate with the dentist throughout the treatment process; it is also safe for children to use.  Generally the patient will experience different effects of the sedation such as tingling of hands and feet, warmth throughout the body, ringing sensation in the ears or distant hearing, relaxed state.  Prior to the appointment you can discuss any concerns about the nitrous oxide sedation in our Brampton dental office.  It is advised to avoid a large meal 2-3 hours prior to the appointment and to use the washroom prior to the treatment.
